ABOUT

Laura Edmiston is a civil trial and appellate lawyer who has favorably resolved cases for clients in the healthcare industry in both state and federal court. She has extensive experience defending hospitals, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in medical malpractice cases and professional state licensing board proceedings. In addition, she has successfully defended healthcare clients in lawsuits related to COVID-19 vaccination policies, constitutional challenges to the Texas Advance Directives Act, employment-related claims, and a wide variety of commercial disputes. Laura further assists clients in minimizing legal risk by providing guidance on maintaining compliance with the federal and state regulations that impact their operations, transactions, and structuring.

  • Prior to joining Scott Patton PC, Laura practiced at a highly-regarded firm that specializes in representing healthcare providers and organizations.  Laura began her legal career representing plaintiffs in securities fraud class action suits, including the In re Enron Corp. Sec. Litig. case, which recovered billions of dollars for injured shareholders.  While in law school, she served as an articles editor for the Houston Journal of International Law and interned with the Court of Appeals, First District of Texas.
